Luke Fennell has signed a one-year deal with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

The South East Melbourne Phoenix have added one of Australia’s brightest young talents as a development player for NBL25 through signing Centre of Excellence guard Luke Fennell on a one-year deal.

Fennell, who turns 18 in June, is a scholarship member of the NBA Global Academy and has been representing the Centre of Excellence this NBL1 East campaign. He recently won a gold medal at the Albert Schweitzer tournament alongside Rocco Zikarsky, and averaged 8.4 points and a team-high 2.4 assists per game.

He was also a key cog in Victoria's U20 National Championship win earlier this year, and has been affiliated with the Phoenix since initially training with them as a 14-year-old.

“It’s great to have Luke officially join us at the Phoenix. We know a number of teams were after his services and it's great that one of Australia’s brightest talents has chosen to stay in the Heartland,” General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said.

“Luke gets to stay in the South East of Melbourne and develop within the world class facilities we now have at the State Basketball Centre.”

“Additionally, Luke will bring a great amount of skill and energy to our squad and we look forward to having him as part of our program.”
